Dr. Pumerantz has been hands on in the manufacturing of specialty ammunition and firearms for the commercial, law enforcement, military, and entertainment industries since 2005. He is recognized as an industry leader in the research and development of munitions and weapons, including the recent development of frangible ammunition for law enforcement, and Supercavitating projectiles for the US military. He continues to work with ammunition and firearms industry manufacturers. He has created new cartridges and reintroduced dozens of cartridges to the industry, and is considered one of the industry’s experts when it comes to ammunition design. He is also one of the few experts in the field of antique weapons, antique cartridges, and black powder ammunition.

As President and CEO of Ten-X Ammunition, Inc., he holds a Type 10 FFL (Manufacturer, Destructive Devices) from BATFE and all Dangerous Weapons Permits in California from Cal DOJ. This unique combination of licenses makes Dr. Pumerantz the only expert witness in California who can possess, test and evaluate firearms such as machine guns, 50 BMG rifles, and all types of destructive devices.

Dr. Pumerantz has regularly taught ammunition manufacturing processes and toolmark identification to law enforcement agencies, including DOJ, LAPD, and LASO since 2008. His students continue to use the information from his courses in courtrooms across the country. His background in firearm identification, toolmark examination, internal and external ballistics, and proper firearm handling were enhanced by his 18 years of service as a Reserve Deputy Sheriff, with 16 of those years in the armory and teaching on the firing line.

With his previous background in higher education, Dr. Pumerantz is an outstanding analyst and report writer. His ability to effectively communicate knowledge to a group comes from his many years of teaching and public speaking.
